The Company was incorporated in 1966 as the regional headquarters of a New Zealand based waterproofing business. After a management buy-out in 1989, the current Hitchins’ waterproofing business was established and listed on the SGX-SESDAQ (now known as Catalist) in 2003 as Hitchins Group Ltd.
In January 2007, M.E. Development L.L.C. of Dubai acquired a strategic stake in the Group and the Company was renamed as Middle East Development Singapore Ltd.
In November 2008, M.E. Development L.L.C. sold its shares in the Company and ceased to be a substantial shareholder. In January 2009, Germir Group Limited acquired 14.66% interest in the Company.
MEDS is an investment holding company with subsidiaries providing quality building protection solutions and products. Our regional presence revolves around our headquarters in Singapore, with operations in Malaysia and China. The Group’s distribution network currently spans 12 countries in Asia Pacific, Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka and the Middle East.
Our Waterproofing Business is marketed under the Hitchins® trademark.
Our Waterproofing Division is one of Asia’s leading waterproofing specialists with expertise in preservation, restoration and maintenance of buildings and concrete structures.
As an ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 14001:2004 certified organisation, we are committed to providing quality and innovative building protection products.
Supported by a strong R&D team, the Division employs cutting edge green technology in developing and manufacturing specialty building materials. It has preserved many historical and modern buildings from deterioration and restored them to their original splendour. We are committed to building a green and sustainable future.
The Division has an extensive regional presence and distribution network.
With the termination of project and management contracts, our Project Management Division remained inactive.
We have a small Roof Garden Division which designs and installs roof gardens for clients. With the increasing awareness of the importance of a greener environment, the Division may see greater potential in the medium term.
